ABEOKUTA—FORMER President, Olusegun Obasanjo and the group of 15 lawmakers, who are at loggerheads with Governor Olugbenga Daniel were said to have reached an accord to present General Adetunji Olurin, as a common candidate for the 2011 gubernatorial polls in the state.
Obasanjo was said to have met with the Group of lawmakers at his Hilltop expansive home on Sunday, in company of some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to perfect strategy for the emergence of Olurin.
Vanguard gathered that Olurin who hails from Yewa/Awori zone of the state has prepared all his campaign materials in preparation for the party’s primaries.
Sentor Ayo Otegbola, a leader in the Yewa/Awori Senatorial District was reported to have led some other notable citizens of the zone to the meeting where focus was centred on how the 70-year-old Olurin would be the next governor.
Our sources informed that the list of those in attendance included Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye (Minister for Commerce), Buruji Kashamu, a multi-millionaire chieftain of the party, Speaker Tunji Egbetokun and other members of his G-15 lawmakers.
