AKURE—AHEAD of next year’s election in Ondo State, a chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, weekend, promised to pay the nomination fees of the party’s candidates from councillorship to House of Representatives.

Ibrahim who spoke at the party’s rally at Idanre in Idanre council area of the state said the gesture was to remove any encumbrances from candidates of the party interested in next year’s election.

According to him: “The party would do everything legally possible to ensure our party wins all the seats in next year’s polls.

The decision, he pointed out, would allow the party to come out with the best candidates who may be hampered by the required fee that had been made statutory by our national headquarters.

Mr. Jimoh said: “All efforts should be made to ensure that the state stopped the politics of exclusion being practiced presently as it would be better for it to join the mainstream of Nigerian politics. It was even better before 2003 as the state then had some other states that in the same political platform.

Now it is worse because we are now a lone ranger. That is not good for our politics or the development of our land. We are determined to change the scenario and I am happy that our people are ready for that change.”

Also speaking at the rally, immediate governor of the state Dr Olusegun Agagu said that the difference is clear as the present administration could not showcase any achievement in Idanre or anywhere in the state in the past two years in office.

Dr Agagu said “all the projects embarked upon by his administration in the hilly town had been abandoned despite the fact that he made fund available for them before he was unceremoniously removed from office.

We embarked on various projects across the land to change the fortunes of our people and our landscape. We had our hands in all facets of development and we were on course. But these people came and destroyed everything. If we want to secure our future, we must vote them out”, Agagu said.
