The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) will on Wednesday, October 13, officially launch  the Cowbell iTry Lagos Rugby Coaching scheme for secondary schools.

This is one of the benefits of the partnership package between the rugby federation and Promassidor, makers of Cowbell to develop youth rugby in Nigeria through the RUGBY4Nigeria Foundation
Fola Odetoyinbo, NRFF head of youth development, said that the scheme has been developed to teach rugby to students between ages 11 and 12.

Action recorded during a rugby match at the national stadium, Lagos.

“Significant investment has been made to make this a sustainable scheme,”Odetoyinbo said, adding, “to achieve this each participating school will be given an equipment package comprising of rugby balls, pumps and kit for the students.”

“Furthermore, 12 coaches have been accredited following completion of a comprehensive International Rugby Board (IRB) training program. Each coach will also be given all the necessary tools to work with.”

Approximately 28 secondary schools are expected at the launch at Tafa Balewa Square. Each school will be represented by 2 teachers and 15 students.

Lagos State Commissioner of Sports, Prince Adeniji Adele and Mr Keith Richards, the Managing Director of Promasidor are expected to flag the event open. They will be assisted by Dr Richard Ajayi, the President of the NRFF.
