ASABA—THE crisis rocking All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State has worsened as leaders and stakeholders rejected the swearing-in of Prophet Jones Erue as Chairman of the party in the state and harmonisation of the State Executive Committee by the National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.

They urged Oshiomhole to work with the Chief Cyril Ogodo-led executive, which they said participated at the national convention among other delegates from other states of the federation to elect him as National Chairman of the party.

The party members, in a communique at the end of a meeting in Asaba, by Mr. Alex Onwudiamu, said Erue was not a product of the party’s congress, describing his swearing in as state chairman as “illegal, unconstitutional, repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience.”

He said: “The purported moves by Erue pretending to reconcile aggrieved members and a group of people who never contested elections parading as state executives is a smokescreen preparatory to his working for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.”

, as he has also done in time past.

“The state congress of May 21, which elected Chief Ogodo remains valid and not subject of any litigation and or consent judgment howsoever.

“Chief Ogodo remains Chairman of APC, Delta State, who had earlier been sworn in by then National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on June 4.

“The ward /local government executives elected on May 5 and 12, respectively, remain the authentic executives at the ward and local government levels as authenticated by the National Working Committee.”

Saying the election of the state officers of the party had not been invalidated by any court of law, the communique noted that “APC remains one in Delta State under the leadership of Olorogun Otega Emerhor and Dr. Ibe Kachukwu, Minister State for Petroleum.

“We remain the authentic APC majority in Delta State, ready and able to take over the reins of governance from the fraudulent and rudderless PDP government in 2019.

“We support and pass a vote of confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari’s good governance, war against corruption and adopt him for second term.”
