IBADAN—THE Oyo State Police Command has ordered the immediate detention of three policemen and redeployment of another one for allowing wireless messages sent to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Baba Adisa Bolanta to leak.

One of the two police wireless messages that were said to have leaked, allegedly indicted the dismissed Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Alhaji Lateef Salako.

The said message read: “Some miscreants suspected to be members of drivers union alleged to be of Salako Eleweomo faction besieged the union secretariat at Olomi Ibadan and in the process attacked other members of Alhaji Tokyo faction.”

It was gathered that the police was not comfortable with it and sent it back to be re-written. Tongues had been wagging from those sympathetic to the incumbent Chairman of the union, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola that Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and the CP were partial by showing undue favouritism to Salako. However, the CP has distanced himself from the allegation.

The alleged unprofessional way the document was allowed to be sneaked out reportedly angered the CP who fired the DPO and transferred the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO, to Eruwa.

The detained policemen are; Corporals Victoria Folorunsho, Ojo Ezekiel and Betty, who were attached to Sanyo Police Station in the city.

The affected officers, according to a source, were reportedly being quizzed by a senior officer.

The DPO was said to have been ordered to report at Eleyele while those detained were said to be at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Though the CP confirmed the redeployment of the officers, he said it did not have anything to do with the said wireless messages claiming that they had already been redeployed earlier because of their negligence to allow violence to erupt in their jurisdiction.

But a source disclosed to Vanguard that they were rounded up on Monday on the orders of the CP.
