EnrolWeb gets ICANN accreditation

EnrolWeb gets ICANN accreditation

Nigerian web services company EnrolWeb earns ICANN accreditation, marking a major milestone in its journey from web hosting platform to global domain registrar.

Enrol Web Services Limited, the Nigerian technology company behind EnrolWeb, has secured accreditation from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), taking a major step forward in the global domain name industry.

The company is listed in ICANN’s current directory of accredited registrars as Enrol Web Services Limited, with IANA number 4566 and Nigeria listed as its country of operation.
The milestone gives EnrolWeb a stronger position in the global domain name ecosystem and adds a significant layer of recognition to its growing portfolio of digital services.
ICANN is responsible for coordinating key parts of the Internet’s naming system, including the Domain Name System that helps people access websites using easy-to-remember domain names.

According to ICANN, organisations that want direct access to generic top-level domain registries and wish to offer gTLD registration services must become accredited registrars. They must also meet defined technical, operational and financial requirements.
In simple terms, EnrolWeb has moved from helping people and businesses secure their place online to taking a recognised role in the system that makes that possible.

The accreditation is the latest chapter in a journey that began several years ago.
In 2021, Vanguard reported the launch of Enrol.NG as a Nigerian web hosting platform focused on helping individuals, businesses, government organisations, educational institutions and other groups build their online presence.

At the time, the platform was built on Microsoft Azure and offered domain registration, hosting and ongoing web-management services. Its stated goal was straightforward: make web hosting easier, faster and more accessible to Nigerians and businesses.
Fast-forward to today, and the business has grown into EnrolWeb, with a broader portfolio covering domains, hosting, websites, security and digital productivity tools.

The platform currently offers domain registration and transfers, shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS hosting, website design, SSL certificates and business email solutions. EnrolWeb says it has registered more than 12,000 domains.
The journey from a local web-hosting platform to an ICANN-accredited registrar gives the latest milestone added weight.

A company website, professional email address, online store or digital platform can all begin with one decision: securing the right domain.

EnrolWeb has built its offering around that entire journey, combining domain registration with hosting, website development, SSL and other digital services. Its current platform also promotes 24/7 support and DNS management as part of its domain services.
The ICANN accreditation now gives the company a deeper role in the domain registration ecosystem for generic top-level domains.

It also comes with greater responsibility. ICANN’s registrar framework sets out obligations around the relationship between accredited registrars and domain registrants, with its current accreditation system designed to promote accountability and protections for registrants.

EnrolWeb is not simply expanding its services from Nigeria; it is now appearing on a global list of ICANN-accredited registrars alongside companies operating across different parts of the world.

ICANN’s current directory identifies Enrol Web Services Limited as a Nigerian registrar, with IANA number 4566.

That is a notable marker for a Nigerian technology company operating in a space where global infrastructure, technical standards and trust matter
It also gives EnrolWeb a stronger foundation for its next phase of growth.

For customers, the development brings added confidence when choosing a registrar for their online identity.

EnrolWeb already provides tools for searching, registering, transferring and managing domains, including DNS management and domain privacy options. It also offers hosting and related services, allowing customers to manage key parts of their online presence from a single platform.

The company’s services extend from individuals and startups to growing businesses and organisations that need websites, email, hosting and digital infrastructure.

The accreditation also comes at a time when having a reliable online identity is becoming increasingly important for businesses. A domain is often the first digital touchpoint between a business and its customers, making its registration and management an important part of building an online presence.

From its early days as Enrol.NG to its current identity as EnrolWeb, the company’s journey has been about making digital infrastructure more accessible to businesses and individuals.

The company can build on its domain business, strengthen its technology offering and compete for a bigger share of a market that increasingly connects African businesses to customers and opportunities around the world.

For EnrolWeb, the milestone sends a clear message: the company is not just helping businesses get online anymore. It is becoming part of the global system that helps them get there.
