The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Grace Adagba, and other stakeholders have held a two-day consultative meeting convened by the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, to review and validate the proposed 10-Year Universal Basic Education Road Map, 2026–2035.

The meeting also reviewed the Basic Education Action Plan Management System, BEAPMS, and brought together Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards, UBEC officials and Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics from across the country.

A statement by the Special Assistant, Corporate Communications and Community Engagements to the Benue SUBEB Executive Chairman, Msughter Ataigbough, said the meeting held in Abuja provided an opportunity for stakeholders to examine the proposed roadmap, its requirements and the modalities for its implementation across the states.

According to the statement, the deliberations focused largely on the proposed 10-year roadmap as well as the digital transformation of the planning and management of basic education interventions through the BEAPMS.

The statement explained that “the Basic Education Action Plan Management System, BEAPMS, is a digital platform designed to transform the planning and management of UBEC interventions from largely manual processes to an integrated digital workflow.”

It added that the system “is expected to support the development, submission, review and approval of state action plans, while strengthening documentation, transparency, monitoring and accountability.”

The statement noted that the digital platform would provide a more coordinated framework for managing basic education interventions, particularly in the areas of planning, documentation, monitoring and accountability.

It said Adagba’s participation also enabled Benue State to share its experiences and lessons from the ongoing efforts of the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia to reposition the basic education sector in the state.

The statement quoted the meeting as providing “an opportunity to share the state’s experiences and lessons from ongoing efforts under the administration of His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to reposition basic education.”

It further noted that Benue was among the states making significant strides in basic education reform and development, particularly in the area of digital literacy and adoption.

According to the statement, the consultative meeting was part of efforts to ensure that the proposed national roadmap adequately reflects the realities and needs of the states, which are central to the implementation of basic education programmes.

“The UBE’s 10-year roadmap remains a national framework that will guide basic education planning, intervention and delivery over the next decade,” the statement said.
