…Appoints Catholic Bishop as Pro-Chancellor
…Bomadi council boss urges proper registration

BOMADI— Zoro International Open University, ZIOU, a newly established private university in Bomadi, Delta State, has commenced operations and announced the sale of application forms for prospective students.

The institution also appointed the Catholic Bishop of Bomadi Diocese, Most Rev. Hyacinth Oroko Egbebo, as its Pro-Chancellor.

The management announced the commencement of sales of application forms during the weekend at the university’s administrative offices located within the premises of St. Brendan College and Esenaebe College.

Speaking on the appointment of Bishop Egbebo, the Vice-Chancellor of ZIOU, Prof. Osadi Benemone, said the cleric was chosen in recognition of his dedication to service and his contributions to civil society.

Benemone described Egbebo as a father figure to the downtrodden and needy, noting his commitment to reaching out to people in need.

Responding, Egbebo thanked the university for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting the development of Ijaw-populated riverine communities within his diocese.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, has welcomed the establishment of the private university, describing it as a significant development for the people of the riverine communities.

Andaye spoke when the management of ZIOU visited him at his office as part of efforts to formally introduce the institution to the council and seek partnership.

Benemone said the visit was aimed at informing the council chairman about the university’s operations within the council and exploring areas of collaboration.

Andaye assured the university management that the council would do everything within its powers to support the smooth operation of the institution.

He also expressed the council’s readiness to partner with ZIOU to ensure its uninterrupted operation in the area.

The council boss described the university as “an answer to the prayers of the people to an extent,” but said his administration remained committed to pursuing the establishment of a state-owned tertiary institution in Bomadi.

He, however, urged the management of ZIOU to ensure that all necessary registration and regulatory requirements were fulfilled to avoid possible consequences for the institution, its students and partners.

“This institution is an answer to the prayers of the people to an extent, but I want to assure you that my administration is still working hard to ensure the establishment of a state-owned high institution in Bomadi Local Government Area,” Andaye said.
