FoodCo has opened a new store in Awakan, Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, expanding its network to 24 outlets across Oyo, Lagos and Ogun states.
The new store offers FoodCo’s integrated supermarket and quick-service restaurant model, with groceries, household products, fresh food, grill items and an in-store bakery.
Speaking at the launch, FoodCo Chief Executive Officer, Ade Sun-Basorun, said the expansion followed research into local shopping habits, product preferences and price expectations.
He said the new outlet would bring organised retail, quality assurance and convenience closer to residents of Awakan and the wider Ojoo area.
“Expansion is never just about increasing store count. It is also about understanding the customers we serve and designing local FoodCo outlets to respond to the needs of their immediate communities,” Sun-Basorun said.
The store will also stock FoodCo’s recently repackaged SunFresh Bread range, including the new Jumbo variant.
Founded in 1982, FoodCo operates across retail, quick-service restaurants, manufacturing and entertainment. It has more than 2,000 employees and provides market access for small businesses across Southwest Nigeria.
The company was listed in the Financial Times’ ranking of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
