Nigerian Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy has reached another major career milestone after surpassing 57.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, moving ahead of global pop icons Madonna and Adele on the streaming platform.

The latest Spotify data shows Burna Boy with more than 57.7 million monthly listeners, placing him above Madonna, who has about 55.8 million monthly listeners, and Adele, who has approximately 54.8 million.

The achievement further cements the Afrobeats star’s growing influence on the global music scene.

The milestone comes just weeks after Burna Boy became the first African artist to set a new record for monthly listeners on Spotify, a feat largely driven by the global success of his music and high-profile international collaborations.

Much of the recent surge has been attributed to the popularity of Dai Dai, his FIFA World Cup collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, as well as renewed interest in tracks from his latest album, No Sign of Weakness. The songs have continued to attract millions of new listeners across key markets in Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America.

The achievement reinforces Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s biggest music exports. Over the past few years, the “Last Last” hitmaker has consistently broken streaming records, sold out stadiums across multiple continents and earned international recognition, including a Grammy Award and several BET honours.

Beyond the numbers, Burna Boy’s latest Spotify milestone highlights the expanding global appeal of Afrobeats and African music. Once regarded as a niche genre outside the continent, Afrobeats has become a dominant force on international streaming platforms, with Burna Boy, Tems, Rema, Wizkid and Ayra Starr among the artists driving its worldwide growth.

With more than 57 million monthly listeners and a catalogue that continues to gain traction, Burna Boy remains one of Spotify’s most-listened-to artists globally, underscoring his status as a leading figure in contemporary African music.
