An eminent condensed matter physicist, Dr. Eli Danladi, has been inducted into the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of science.

The induction took place on Monday at the 16th International Conference & General Assembly held at the Lagos State University, Nigeria and presided over by the President of the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS), Professor Abubakar Sambo.

The NYA was established in August 2010 by the pioneering effort of the Nigerian Academy of Science, supported by the Nigerian Academy of Education and the Nigerian Academy of Engineering.

It is a unified platform for interaction among brilliant young researchers in Nigeria (not above the age of 40 years at the point of entry) who are annually elected from various research disciplines and regions of the country.

Dr. Danladi is a highly cited researcher with a Scopus/SciVal rating. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Central University of Technology, Free State, where he makes significant contributions to academic leadership, teaching, and high-impact research.

He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles as an author and co-author and holds editorial appointments as Editor-in-Chief and editorial board member for several international journals.

Speaking shortly after the induction ceremony, Dr. Danladi expressed his gratitude to the NYA and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing scientific research.

“I’m very pleased to have been inducted as a member of the Nigerian Young Academy for advancing scientific research and national development. It is always great as a researcher to be elected into an academy or scientific organisation that consists of the best. It’s humbling yet empowering. It is great to be among the eminent scientists elected in this year’s class of NYA members. It means my little effort in promoting world-class science worldwide is recognised. Nothing is more gratifying than being able to help empower others with the scientific tools they need to be the best they can become and collectively build a much better environment for themselves and all of us. This induction is a renewed call to service and an opportunity to continue pushing the frontiers of research and innovation,” he said.

Peers have lauded Dr. Danladi’s commitment to academic development, describing this induction as an expected, yet highly timely milestone. It serves as well-deserved validation of his dedication, underscoring years of outstanding leadership and professional impact in strengthening research capacity and promoting global scientific engagement.

In May, 2026, Dr. Danladi was elected as a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Physics for his excellence in research, mentorship and scientific advancement. Additionally, he is a member of South African Institute of Physics, African Astronomical Society, African Materials Research Society, Asian Council of Science Editors, Nigerian Association of Mathematical Physics, Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences, Solar Energy Society of Nigeria, Material Science and Technology Society of Nigeria, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, among others.

He holds two Ph.D. degrees in Solid State Physics and Future Energies from Nigerian Defence Academy and Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Other recipients include Drs. Shitu Abubakar, Sulaimon Femi Abimbade, John Simon, Hameed Akande Bashiru, Mobolaji Adenike Titilawo, and Funmilola Adebisi Oluwafemi
