The newly appointed National Director of Students Development of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Adeleke Samuel, popularly known as Hon. Brendan, has pledged to spearhead reforms aimed at advancing students’ development and welfare across Nigeria.

Adeleke, a former Chief of Staff of the NANS Joint Campus Council (JCC), Oyo Axis, made the commitment in Ibadan while reacting to his appointment by the President of NANS.

He described his elevation as a call to greater national service, promising to work with the leadership of the association to implement policies and programmes that would strengthen academic excellence, leadership development, innovation, entrepreneurship and the overall welfare of students nationwide.

“I sincerely appreciate the President of NANS for this invaluable opportunity, trust and confidence. This appointment is not merely an honour but a call to greater service, accountability and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Nigerian students,” Adeleke said.

He said his priority would be to develop initiatives capable of equipping students with leadership skills while promoting innovation and entrepreneurial opportunities across tertiary institutions in the country.

The NANS new director also pledged to collaborate closely with the association’s national leadership in formulating and implementing programmes that would have a lasting impact on students and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s education sector.

According to him, his tenure will be driven by transparency, inclusiveness and purposeful service, with a strong commitment to protecting the interests, rights and aspirations of Nigerian students.

“I pledge my unalloyed loyalty and support to the leadership of NANS and reaffirm my resolve to champion policies and initiatives that will positively impact the lives of Nigerian students. Together, we shall continue to build a stronger, more progressive and more responsive students’ movement,” he stated.

Adeleke also expressed gratitude to the President of NANS for finding him worthy of the appointment, saying the confidence reposed in him would inspire him to deliver on the mandate entrusted to him.

He further thanked the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Students’ Affairs, Victor Olojede, for his nomination, support and belief in his competence.

The appointment, however, places Adeleke at the helm of NANS’ students’ development directorate, with responsibility for driving programmes and initiatives designed to improve the academic, leadership and socio-economic development of students across the federation.
