Fire, as dangerous as it is to human lives, it is the most underestimated risk by individuals’ estimation. Despite its consequences on human activities such as loss of properties and investments when fire outbreaks occur, issues of fire are not given the right attention they deserve.

Consequently, companies, organisations, individuals and homes are always looking out for how to mitigate it through the adoption and application of new methodologies in their fire protection and fighting protocols.

But to take the bull by the horn, Mr. Olusegun Ayobami Bamiduro, the Managing Director / CEO of Chimera Live Line Technology Nigeria Limited, whose industry experience in the specialised field of “Passive Fire Protection,” spans over a decade in Nigeria with many successfully executed projects to his credit, took out time to speak the issue at the just concluded Lagos State hosted Fire Conference in Ikeja, Lagos.

Abayomi Bamiduro is a military-trained Technical Engineer who studied Explosives Science & Engineering while in the service of the Nigerian Army.

He is the Managing Director / CEO of Chimera Live Line Technology Nigeria Limited, whose industry experience in the specialised field of “Passive Fire Protection” spans over a decade in Nigeria with many successfully executed projects to his credit. He took out time to speak with our representative at the just-concluded Lagos State-hosted Fire Conference in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Mr. Ayobami divided Fire protection and its fighting protocols globally into two categories – “Active and Passive.”

According to him, while a great majority of the public are conversant with the “Active” aspect of fire fighting methods, which has to do with using all available tools and human resources to fight or curtail the outbreak or spread of Fire, the equally very effective other approach – the “Passive” aspect is not “not very well known in Nigeria, and that is the gap my company have come to fill.”

In the words of Mr. Ayobami, “our focus, in our own space, is the Passive aspect of fire prevention or fire fighting. While the active aspect is generally known and is in the public domain, viz using all available tools and human resources to fight and curtail fire spread, the Passive system is not very well known in Nigeria,” he informed.

His company – Chimera Live Line Technology Nig Ltd is the official representative of Live Line Technology (RSA) Ltd, the manufacturers of Combine Dropped Out Surge Arrester Unit (COMBI UNIT) that has just been approved for use by Ikeja Electric and also being considered by other Discos operating in the country.
