The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State for the 2027 election, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has pledged to make human capital development the cornerstone of his administration if elected, with a focus on youth empowerment, education and job creation.
Gwamna made the pledge during a political gathering in Gombe, where a former governorship aspirant, Aliyu Kombat, announced his support for the APC candidate and that of his political structure from the state to ward level.
According to a statement issued by Gwamna’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the APC governorship candidate expressed appreciation to Kombat and his supporters for their endorsement, describing the development as a boost to the party’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
He said the growing support reflected a shared commitment to the development of Gombe State.
Gwamna said that, if elected, his administration would prioritise young people by investing in quality education, entrepreneurship, employment opportunities and programmes aimed at promoting self-reliance.
“Our youths are the backbone of our future. We will invest in their education, create opportunities for employment, and support initiatives that make them self-reliant and productive members of society,” he said.
The APC candidate also urged residents of the state and party members to support the party, saying unity would contribute to sustainable development.
He expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, stating that their administrations had introduced reforms and development initiatives at the national and state levels.
Speaking at the event, Kombat said his decision to support Gwamna was based on his assessment of the APC candidate’s leadership qualities and commitment to public service.
“He has the interest of the people at heart, and that is why I and my supporters have decided to join forces with him,” Kombat said.
The endorsement comes as political parties in Gombe State continue consultations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
