…Firm secures dual accreditation ahead of July compliance deadline

As Nigeria prepares for the next phase of its mandatory electronic invoicing regime, Afri Invoice has been accredited by the Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, as an official Access Point Provider, APP, positioning the company among a select group of technology firms authorised to connect businesses to the country’s centralised digital tax infrastructure.
The accreditation comes weeks ahead of the July compliance deadline and follows Afri Invoice’s earlier licensing as an official Systems Integrator by the NRS, giving the fintech firm a dual-licensed status within the emerging national e-invoicing ecosystem.
With the latest approval, Afri Invoice is authorised to facilitate the secure validation, digital signing and transmission of electronic invoices to the NRS Merchant Buyer Solution, MBS, platform, which serves as the government’s centralised system for monitoring business-to-business, B2B, and business-to-government, B2G, transactions.
The NRS introduced the MBS platform as part of efforts to strengthen tax administration, improve revenue collection, curb tax evasion and enhance transparency in commercial transactions across the country.
Under the framework, businesses are required to transmit transaction data in real time through accredited Access Point Providers that meet prescribed technical and security standards.
Afri Invoice said the accreditation followed a rigorous evaluation process covering its software architecture, cybersecurity framework, interoperability standards and compliance with internationally recognised protocols, including the PEPPOL framework and OAuth 2.0 security standards.
Commenting on the development, Founder of Afri Invoice, Mr. Mark Odenoere, described the certification as a major milestone for the company and the wider business community.
According to him, the approval reinforces confidence in the company’s ability to support businesses as Nigeria transitions to a more transparent and digitally enabled tax environment.
“This accreditation represents one of the most significant moments in Afri Invoice’s journey. For years, we have believed that compliance should not be a financial burden that only large corporations can afford.
“The NRS has handed us the opportunity to be the bridge connecting Nigeria’s entire business community to this new era. We view e-invoicing as a launchpad for modern corporate efficiency, transparency and growth,” he said.
Odenoere noted that the company’s dual role as both Systems Integrator and Access Point Provider enables it to provide end-to-end support for organisations seeking to comply with the new invoicing requirements.
He explained that the platform is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems while automating invoice validation, submission and compliance reporting processes.
Also speaking, Director of Strategy and Operations at Afri Invoice, Ms. Fatimata Niang, said the company’s infrastructure was built to support large-scale adoption as the e-invoicing mandate expands across Nigeria’s taxpayer base.
“Our architecture was engineered to the highest global standards for security, interoperability and scale. Every invoice running through our system is cryptographically secured and fully traceable from the moment it is generated.
“As the mandate expands to millions of taxpayers, our infrastructure is primed to handle massive transaction volumes without compromising speed, reliability or security,” she said.
According to the company, its platform provides businesses with automated compliance management, real-time invoice processing, audit trails and executive dashboards that enhance visibility and reduce manual errors.
Afri Invoice added that its systems support all NRS-mandated tax categories, quantity codes and payment status requirements, helping businesses remain compliant as Nigeria aligns with global digital invoicing standards.
The company said the accreditation would also provide businesses with onboarding support as the July implementation deadline approaches.
