The Vice President of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Chapter 84 Nigeria, ESV Ikechukwu Henry Nwachukwu, has called for stronger collaboration among professionals and government agencies involved in right-of-way management to support infrastructure development across the country.
Speaking at the association’s annual seminar themed “Better Right of Way Management and Maintenance” in Abuja, Nwachukwu encouraged professionals, including land surveyors, environmentalists, engineers, lawyers and planners, to participate actively in initiatives aimed at improving right-of-way practices.
He described IRWA as a multidisciplinary professional association that provides a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building and professional development for individuals involved in right-of-way acquisition, utilization, management and maintenance.
According to him, the association seeks to promote professional growth, leadership development and education while supporting infrastructure projects through improved right-of-way management.
Nwachukwu said continuous professional education and collaboration among stakeholders are important for strengthening the capacity of practitioners and enhancing infrastructure delivery.
He also advocated closer engagement between the association and relevant professional bodies, noting that such partnerships could contribute to the advancement of right-of-way management practices in Nigeria.
In addition, he encouraged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) involved in right-of-way activities to support professional development opportunities for their personnel through relevant industry associations and training programmes.
The seminar brought together experts and stakeholders from various sectors to discuss approaches to improving right-of-way management and maintenance as part of efforts to support infrastructure development and national growth.
