UYO—Tasieobi Global Foundation has announced plans to reach 12,000 students in 60 schools across six states this year.
The organisation said it is shifting focus to education after discovering that limited awareness and inadequate support in rural areas are hindering student development and national progress.
The six states to be visited include: Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Imo and Abia.
The President of the Foundation, Sir Elvis Taseiobi, who disclosed this in Uyo during his book launch titled, ‘Beyond Motivation’, explained that ten schools will be picked from each of the six states.
The President, who described education as “a vital machine that we need to succeed as a nation”, said the outreach is part of its contribution to improving access and retention in underserved communities.
According to him, the intervention began years ago with visits to rural schools where learning materials were distributed to underprivileged students.
The goal, he explained, was to encourage them to stay in school, “knowing that education is key to human development.”
“We have noticed that the educational structure in Nigeria is not something we can be very proud of, so we started stepping in there so that we can also contribute to the sector.
”So this year we are looking at visiting six states, and in each of these states, we are going to visit 10 schools, which is 60 schools in total, and we are looking at 200 students in each of these schools, and it will bring us to a total of 12,000 students which we will be impacting this year”, he added.
Tasieobi added that the empowerment will equally be extended to teachers in each of the schools and that no fewer than 900 teachers will be empowered financially to start up businesses to help them support their monthly salaries.
Speaking on the newly launched book, he stated that the book is a practical guide that can catapult anyone to a desirable life, adding, “while motivation can inspire us to start, it is purpose, discipline, character, resilience and consistent actions that sustain success and transform lives.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the ceremony, Dr Onyeka Ogbatu, commended the author for his contribution to knowledge, including philanthropic services rendered over the years.
He assured that funds generated from the book launch will be channelled to charity, calling on other well-to-do Nigerians, including the private sector, to equally embrace charitable services so that the less privileged among us can be empowered.
