A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Lagos State, Naheem Balogun, has expressed confidence in emerging victorious in the party’s governorship primaries, while urging his supporters to remain calm and await the official declaration of results.
Balogun spoke shortly after the collation of results from various wards and voting centres, saying early indications showed he was in a strong position in the keenly contested exercise.
According to him, the outcome of the primaries reflects the confidence party members have in his leadership vision and commitment to grassroots development.
“I am deeply grateful to all our supporters, party faithful volunteers, and stakeholders who came out en masse to participate in this democratic process. The results collated so far are encouraging and reflect the collective effort of our team and the trust the people have placed in our vision,” he said.
The aspirant attributed his performance in the primaries to extensive grassroots engagement, which he said enabled him to connect directly with party members and better understand their aspirations.
He noted that the large turnout recorded during the exercise and the support received across communities underscored the effectiveness of sustained engagement with the people.
Balogun, however, cautioned his supporters against premature celebrations, stressing that the party’s democratic process would only be concluded after the official announcement of results.
He urged party members to remain peaceful, united and law-abiding as they await the outcome of the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting, where the official declaration of the primary election results is expected to be made.
“The democratic process is not complete until the party officially announces the results. I therefore urge all our supporters to remain calm, united, and respectful of party procedures as we await the NEC meeting and official declaration,” he added.
Balogun also thanked delegates, stakeholders, and party faithful for their support throughout the primary election process, assuring them of his continued commitment to inclusive leadership and people-oriented governance.
