To boost healthcare delivery for students and staff, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has received a state-of-the-art Mobile Clinic from SiliconHub Limited, a United States- and Nigeria-based technology company.

The donation, presented under the company’s Care365 Health Hub initiative, marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between the institution and SiliconHub aimed at improving healthcare services through technology-driven solutions.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, described the initiative as a major step toward strengthening healthcare access on campus.

The Mobile Clinic is expected to operate round-the-clock, providing emergency medical response and extending healthcare services to student hostels and other locations within the university community.

SiliconHub Limited is led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ngozi Joseph Odumuko, an alumnus of UNIZIK, while former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), chairs the company.

According to the firm, the Smart Care Deployment solution combines mobile medical services with digital health monitoring and telemedicine technology, enabling patients to consult specialist doctors remotely when necessary.

The facility will provide medical consultations, routine health screenings, immunisation services, basic treatment and emergency response services, while complementing operations at the university’s Medical Centre.

Speaking on the development, the Director of the UNIZIK Medical Centre, Dr Jane Nkoli Ezeonu, commended the Vice-Chancellor and SiliconHub for introducing what she described as a transformative innovation in the institution’s healthcare system.

She noted that the digital health monitoring system would support effective healthcare planning and improve service delivery across the campus.

The initiative is expected to enhance access to healthcare, encourage preventive medical checks and reduce pressure on existing medical facilities within the university.

The donation also reflects the growing role of alumni and private sector partnerships in supporting infrastructure and welfare development in tertiary institutions across the country.
