Saidu

Alhaji Musa Saidu has dismissed as undemocratic the alleged directive that governors of states controlled by the All Progressives Congress, APC, should decide those to fly the party’s flag for various elective offices in their states, adding that president Bola Tinubu should focus on winning the minds of voters.
Saidu, a frontline loyalist of the president said he should not bank on most governors of his party to deliver him in next year’s presidential election, warning that many of them are not on ground as they claim to be in the media space.
He further enjoined the APC to strengthen policies that would encourage internal democracy , adding that it would profit the party at the general polls.
“They said that everybody should go to their governors to get their approvals. This approach may not work well for the APC. I have gone round the north and from observations it may be difficult for president Tinubu if he depends on the governors to deliver their states. Many of them are not on the ground. The APC should rather build a direct relationship with the voters to be sure of victory.
“The love for Mr President made me explain all these. I told some northeners that the problems they blame president Tinubu for were inherited from the previous administration. The opposition knows I am ground.
“Mr President should be careful with those he trusts. I want the president to win that is why I am saying this. I proffer solutions for the good of the president. People should be allowed to choose based on their convictions.
“Governors of the east in the party, many of them do not control the politics of their states. Mr Peter Obi has a very strong follower ship in the east. The APC should work more on the voters, they should be brought into focus. I can say clearly that the Minister of the Federal capital territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike is in charge of the politics of Rivers state but it is not the same with many of the governors from APC in the east . So Mr President should have strategies that can easily work for him across the country. He should target the voters in the north and the east”, he said.
