The Nigeria Customs Service, Ports Terminal Multiservices Command, has recorded over N178 billion in revenue collection, even as the command witnesses a change of leadership with the formal assumption of office by newly deployed Acting Controller DC Nura Ibrahim Miko.
The revenue figure was disclosed by outgoing Controller Joseph Anani at the handover ceremony, where he noted that the command had already collected N178 billion before the figure climbed to N181 billion by the time of the formal handover.
Taking over from Anani, Miko promised to operate with integrity and due process while ensuring seamless trade facilitation, describing his administration as one built on teamwork, transparency, and collaboration.
“Integrity will be non-negotiable. Trade facilitation will remain our priority. Due process will be strictly respected. Results will be achieved through collaboration, not fear,” he said.
The Acting Controller described PTML as a well-organised command and promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor, calling on sister agencies and stakeholders to sustain cooperation and inter-agency synergy.
He thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to uphold the CGC’s policy thrust of Innovation, Consolidation, and Collaboration.
In his farewell remarks, Anani, now redeployed to Tin Can Island Command, said his eight months at PTML were defined by the consolidation of the Unified Customs Management System, known as B’Odogwu, which was pioneered by his predecessor.
He said the command also achieved a one-hour clearance of compliant vehicle imports and successfully seized and handed over illicit drugs, arms, and ammunition to relevant agencies including the NDLEA, NAFDAC, and the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
“None of these would have been possible without the dedication, creativity, and resilience of each and every one of you,” Anani said.
