Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, has launched a state-wide community engagement drive aimed at measuring the real impact of his administration.
This is as he has secured early endorsement for a second term in office from the people of Nsulu, Isialangwa North Local Government Area where he kicked off the initiative on Saturday.
Speaking during the launch of the initiative at the Agburuke Community Primary School , the Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, pitched his government’s scorecard directly to the people, while residents responded with open support for a second term.
“This is about hearing the truth from the people, not relying on reports,” Otti said, framing the initiative as a reality check on governance.
“We want to know exactly how our policies are affecting lives at the grassroots.”
The move appears to double as both a performance audit and a political consolidation strategy ahead of 2027, with the Governor leveraging direct engagement to reinforce his standing among rural voters.
Residents pointed to ongoing road projects and visible improvements, insisting that government presence is now being felt where it once seemed distant.
In a coordinated show of support, community leaders—including Dr Sir Jesse Odu, Hon. Oji Ikechukwu, and Mrs Ngozi Israel—declared Nsulu’s backing for Otti’s second term bid, vowing to mobilise votes for him and his party.
“We have seen what he is doing. The impact is clear, and our people are united in support,” they said, noting a growing alignment with the Labour Party within the area.
Otti also used the platform to push a strategic message on voter mobilisation, urging residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the INEC registration window opening in May.
“Support must translate to votes,” he stressed, in a remark that underscored the political undertone of the engagement.
The visit ended with an inspection of the dilapidated Agburuke Community Primary School, with assurances of reconstruction—another signal of the administration’s attempt to tie grassroots outreach to visible development commitments.
With Nsulu’s early endorsement, Otti’s grassroots tour is already yielding political dividends, blurring the line between governance outreach and campaign positioning.
