Okpe Union Ugolo branch meets ahead 80th anniversary celebration

The Ugolo Branch of the Okpe Union in Lagos has scheduled a critical meeting to finalise preparations for the organisation’s 80th anniversary celebration.

According to a notice issued by the branch secretary, Mr. Daniel Ikikiru, the meeting is set to hold on Saturday, May 3, 2026, at 48 Yaya Crescent, Olodi Apapa, Lagos, by 3:00 p.m.

The meeting will focus on fine-tuning key aspects of the anniversary, including logistics, finances, venue selection, levy payments, and mobilisation strategies. Discussions will also cover committee reports and sensitisation efforts to ensure a successful celebration.

Top on the agenda is a presentation by the women’s wing on the purchase and distribution of anniversary wrappers, as well as strategies for inviting guests and creating awareness for the event.

Financial matters, including the review of dues, outstanding levies, and debtors, are expected to receive significant attention as the branch works towards a seamless celebration.

The meeting will also receive updates on activities lined up for the main Okpe Day celebration scheduled for May 16, 2026, and reports from the Okpe Union headquarters.

In a notable development, a former President General of the Okpe Union Worldwide, Arc. Sir Ralph J. Karieren is expected to attend the meeting, adding weight to the proceedings.

The branch chairman, Mr. Paul Ilaye, will preside over the meeting alongside other executive members.

The Okpe Union, Ugolo Branch, has urged all members to attend promptly, stressing the importance of full participation in making the 80th anniversary a memorable milestone.
