The spokesperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Stephen Ogundipe, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01 ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Collation Officer, Prince AbdulRasaq Omolaja, on Wednesday officially declared Ogundipe, popularly known as Omojomolo, as the duly elected APC flag bearer after polling 11,939 votes out of a total of 15,030 votes cast during the exercise.
According to the results announced at the Legislative Hall, Oshodi Local Government Secretariat, Ogundipe defeated former Education Secretary, Mayowa Alakija, who secured 3,086 votes in the keenly contested primary.
Omolaja stated that the outcome of the exercise confirmed Ogundipe as the party’s candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly election representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01 in the 2027 general election.
The collation of results from all five wards was conducted at the Legislative Hall amid the presence of party officials, stakeholders, and supporters. APC leaders described the exercise as peaceful and reflective of the will of party members across the constituency.
Shortly after the declaration, supporters and party faithful celebrated the outcome, describing the victory as a testament to Ogundipe’s grassroots popularity, political acceptance, and performance as the representative of the constituency.
Party stakeholders also called for unity among members, urging all aspirants and their supporters to close ranks and work collectively toward the success of the party in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking after his declaration, Ogundipe expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, youths, women groups, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
The lawmaker acknowledged the contributions and participation of other aspirants in the process, noting that their involvement strengthened internal democracy within the party.
“Now that the primary election is over, this is the time for unity, reconciliation, and consolidation as we prepare for the general election ahead,” Ogundipe said.
He further stated that the responsibility before the party remained greater than individual ambitions, calling on all APC faithful in Oshodi-Isolo to unite behind the party’s candidate and leadership structure.
He also commended Alakija for what he described as a healthy and democratic contest, stressing that the exercise demonstrated political maturity, discipline, and loyalty to the ideals of the APC.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01, the lawmaker pledged to continue serving with humility, inclusiveness, and dedication to ensure sustained development and effective representation for residents of the constituency.
