A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, has commended the affirmation of Senator Olamilekan Adeola as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State, during the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Adeyanju described the development as the culmination of years of political struggle, sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to the Ogun West Agenda.
Speaking in an emotional statement made available to Vanguard in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, Adeyanju recounted his political journey with Senator Adeola, which he said began over a decade ago during his tenure as Organising Secretary of the APC in Yewa North Local Government under the administration of former Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
According to him, many supporters of the Ogun West Agenda endured persecution, intimidation, and suspension within party structures because of their commitment to the vision championed by Senator Adeyanju.
“I feel greatly fulfilled, honoured, and deeply grateful to Almighty God for granting me the privilege to witness and participate in this historic moment,” Awoso stated.
“What once appeared impossible has today become a reality. We suffered persecution, criticism, and political battles, yet we remained steadfast. Today, consistency, loyalty, and perseverance have produced victory.”
Adeyanju further recalled how members of the political movement travelled to Abuja during the administration of former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to protest what he described as injustice against their political camp.
He noted that participating actively in the struggle from its early days to the present moment of political affirmation gives him immense pride and satisfaction.
“Having witnessed and participated in this journey from its humble beginning to this glorious moment of fulfilment gives me immense joy. Indeed, I am fulfilled,” he said.
The APC stalwart described Senator Adeyanju as “a cheerful giver, mentor, and visionary leader” with a genuine passion for the development of Ogun State, particularly Ogun West.
“With strong conviction and faith in Almighty God, I believe Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi shall be sworn in as the Executive Governor of Ogun State on May 29, 2027,” he declared.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the growth and development of Isokan State Constituency and Ogun West, stressing that his support for the Ogun West Agenda transcends personal political ambition.
“Some people believed my support was tied to my re-election ambition, but this struggle is far beyond personal interest. It is about the future, unity, and development of our people,” he added.
The lawmaker maintained that despite the challenges he encountered during his political journey, particularly in his quest for a third term in office, he remained resolute and committed to the cause.
“A lot happened throughout my political journey. Challenges came, battles arose, and many things changed unexpectedly. Yet, I stood my ground with courage, faith, and determination,” he stated.
Adeyanju further declared that Senator Adeola possesses the vision, courage, political capacity, and leadership qualities required to reposition Ogun State.
“Thousands of senators, representatives, or assembly members may emerge, but only Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi possesses the vision, wisdom, courage, and political understanding required to truly reposition Ogun West and Ogun State,” he said.
He also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor Olusegun Osoba, Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, as well as party stakeholders and supporters across Ogun State for their support towards Yayi’s emergence.
Awoso specifically thanked members of the APC, political office holders, community leaders, and the Awoso Yayi Ambassadors for their sacrifices, encouragement, unity, and commitment to the progress of Ogun State.
“As we move forward together, I am confident that greater achievements, more development, unity, peace, and prosperity await our dear state,” he concluded.
