ABUJA- THE Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG, have jointly inaugurated a Joint Planning Committee, JPC, for the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit (NES #32), marking the formal commencement of preparations for the upcoming Summit.

According a statement signed by the Head, Strategic Communications & Advocacy, NESG, Ayanyinka Ayanlowo, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoma-Anite, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Deborah Bako Udoh, underscored the critical role of effective public-private collaboration in driving economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development.

Uzoma-Anite described the Nigerian Economic Summit as a compelling example of what can be achieved when both sectors align around a shared national vision. She also announced that NES #32 will take place from 26–27 October 2026 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Meanwhile, she noted that members of the JPC were carefully selected based on their expertise and commitment to national development. She outlined the Committee’s mandate to review outcomes from previous Summits, develop the programme and timelines for NES #32, articulate budgetary requirements, mobilise stakeholders across sectors and development partners, and coordinate the production of the Summit’s Green Book to ensure clear and actionable policy recommendations.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, stated that the inauguration of the JPC marks a critical step in shaping the Summit’s agenda and outcomes.

Aduloju also affirmed the Summit’s role as a credible platform for fostering consensus, strengthening public-private dialogue, and advancing Nigeria’s economic reform priorities.

He further highlighted the urgency of addressing key economic challenges, including slow growth, rising cost of living, unemployment, and widening inequality, noting that NES #32 presents an opportunity to deepen reforms and drive inclusive growth.

The Co-Chairs of the JPC from both the public and private sectors also expressed their commitment to delivering a successful Summit, emphasising the importance of collaboration, innovation, and timely execution.

Since its inception in 1993, the Nigerian Economic Summit has evolved into Nigeria’s premier platform for public-private dialogue. Convened annually by NESG in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria, it brings together policymakers, business leaders, and development partners to shape the country’s economic policy direction.

As preparations for NES #32 begin, stakeholders remain committed to building on this legacy by driving reforms, strengthening institutions, and unlocking opportunities for a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.
