.Hails emergence of Zango as VP External Affairs

A pressure group in the student unionism space, the Peaky Movement, has said its involvement in the recent national convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, during which Sadiq SK Zango emerged as the National Vice President, External Affairs, was to ensure the emergence of quality leadership for the association.
In a statement, the groups said, “In what has become a defining political milestone within the contemporary Nigerian student movement, the Peaky Movement has recorded a historic and resounding victory at the just concluded 2026 National Convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), following the emergence of Comr. Sadiq SK Zango as the duly elected Vice President (External Affairs) of the Association.
“The Convention, held on the 24th of May 2026 at the iconic Old Parade Ground, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, brought together accredited delegates, stakeholders, student leaders, observers, and progressive forces from across the federation in a democratic process widely regarded as one of the most politically engaging and strategically significant conventions in recent history.
“The emergence of Comr. Sadiq SK Zango under the platform and strategic structure of the Peaky Movement represents far more than an electoral success. It stands as the triumph of resilience, strategic coordination, visionary leadership, grassroots mobilization, political maturity, institutional engagement, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Nigerian students and the ideals of progressive Aluta struggle.
“From its inception, the Peaky Movement distinguished itself as more than a conventional political platform. It evolved into a formidable movement driven by consultation, loyalty, inclusiveness, strategic thinking, organizational discipline, and an uncompromising commitment to purposeful representation within the Nigerian student constituency. Against all political odds, pressures, and operational complexities, the Movement remained focused, united, and determined in its mission to deliver transformational leadership capable of strengthening the voice, relevance, and institutional stability of NANS.
,”The overwhelming support and confidence received from delegates, stakeholders, comrades, and progressive blocs across the federation further reflects the growing acceptance of the Peaky Movement as a credible political force and a strategic platform for progressive leadership within the Nigerian student movement.”
In his acceptance remarks shortly after the official declaration of results, Comr. Sadiq SK Zango expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah, delegates, stakeholders, mentors, allies, comrades, supporters, and well-wishers across the country whose sacrifices, prayers, strategic interventions, and unwavering belief contributed immensely towards the success of the project.
He described the victory not merely as a personal achievement, but as a collective mandate for responsible leadership, strategic engagement, institutional stability, and the repositioning of NANS towards greater relevance, stronger advocacy, and enhanced national and international representation.
The Vice President (External Affairs)-Elect further reaffirmed his commitment towards strengthening external institutional engagements, expanding opportunities for Nigerian students, deepening stakeholder collaborations, advancing impactful advocacy initiatives, and ensuring that the office remains responsive, progressive, accessible, and strategically positioned to defend and promote the interests of Nigerian students globally.
Special appreciation was equally extended to the numerous stakeholders, mobilization structures, coordinators, allies, grassroots forces, and progressive comrades across the federation whose sacrifices, commitments, and organizational efforts ensured the successful delivery of the Peaky Project at the Convention.
As the curtain falls on the historic 2026 Convention, one reality remains evident across the Nigerian student landscape: the Peaky Movement has firmly established itself as a powerful ideological force, a symbol of strategic leadership, and a defining movement whose impact, structure, and political legacy will resonate across the history of NANS and the broader Nigerian youth constituency for years to come.
The Movement further specially recognizes and acknowledges the visionary leadership, strategic coordination, and unwavering commitment of Engr. Ahmad Rufai Khalifa, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kebbi State Chapter, and Convener of the PEAKY Movement, whose political foresight, organizational capacity, and progressive leadership philosophy played a pivotal role in building and sustaining the formidable structure that ultimately delivered this historic victory. His contributions towards strengthening progressive student politics and institutional leadership within the Nigerian student movement remain highly commendable and deeply appreciated.
