The ex-longest serving member of the Borno State House of Assembly, Hawul Constituency, Hon. Ayuba Stephen Wakawa has picked his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms to contest for the Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027 general elections.

This move makes him among the several aspirants who have also obtained the forms for the same position, including the incumbent, Hon Usman Midala Balami.

Wakawa, elected three times as a member of the State House of Assembly, representing Hawul Local Government Area said, his decision to join the race was necessitated by the clarion calls from stakeholders and APC teaming supporters to occupy the seat and provide the needed representation at the national assembly.

Addressing his supporters on Friday in Maiduguri shortly after he picked the forms at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, Wakawa said: “My dear people of Askira Uba/ Hawul Federal Constituency, with a deep sense of duty and genuine love for our constituency.

“I am pleased to formally announce my intention to once again seek your mandate to represent you in the House of Representatives.

“This marks my second attempt, and it is driven not just by persistence, but by a firm conviction that our constituency deserves focused, committed, and people-oriented leadership”. He noted.

In an interview with journalists on what he will do different if given the mandate, Wakawa said: “I believe strongly that together, we can achieve far more for our communities.
Over the years, I have remained consistent in my loyalty and commitment to our great party, contributing my time, energy, and dedication through both favourable and challenging times.

“My political journey has been one of steady growth and service. I began as a Permanent Commissioner with Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), served as Vice Chairman of Hawul, and had the honour of being elected three times as a Member of the State House of Assembly, making me one of the longest-serving legislators from our constituency.

“These experiences have equipped me with deep insight and a strong understanding of governance, and have prepared me to serve more effectively at the national level.

“The people of Askira Uba and Hawul deserve representation that listens, understands, and delivers meaningful results. Through my years in public service, I have gained the knowledge, capacity, and exposure needed to meet these expectations and to attract greater opportunities and development to our constituency.

“As we move forward, it is important that this process is guided by fairness, unity, and transparency. A strong party is built on justice and mutual respect, and I trust that our leaders will ensure a level playing field for all aspirants”. The Ex-State Legislator explained.

To his supporters and well-wishers across Askira Uba and Hawul, he said: “I urge my teamingbsupporters to remain steadfast and united. By the grace of God, I will soon be in the constituency to engage with stakeholders and continue consultations as we collectively move toward this goal.

“The moment is here, and the opportunity is ours to seize”. Wakawa pledged.

He said, if elected, he will be fully committed to delivering purposeful and effective representation for the benefit of all.
