Delta: Odidi community chairman, Gesikeme unveils blueprint for development

Chairman of Odidi Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Gbenekama Truston Gesikeme, has assured that his administration would give special attention to urgent need to redress development and economic challenges in the area.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration of his executive Gesikeme, said they would be guided by a blue print he code named RESCUED , assuring that the new team would make a meaningful impact in the positive advancement of the area.

Other members of the newly inaugurated executive committee are Mr. Jacob Ekponimi , Vice Chairman, Chief Bene Mamamu, Secretary, Clergy Favour Okrikpa-Deribi , Assistant Secretary, Mr. Charles Meneko, Treasurer, Chief Terry Ogisi, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Clement Konkemele, Financial Secretary, Mr. Sunday Kulele , Assistant Financial Secretary, and Barr. Clarkson Aribogha as the Legal Adviser.
Other members of the cabinet are Mr. Ekankumoh Egbegba, Mr. Solomon Aribogha, Mr. Augustine Aribogha, Mr. Akpos Numah, Mr. William Atunu, Mr. John Jolomi, Miss Beauty Okiri, Mr. Theophilus Lokiri and Mr. Louis Okporo.

The Chairman Gesikeme said the executive would engage relevant government agencies and interventionist bodies, including the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), towards tackling environmental degradation, unemployment and infrastructural deficits confronting the community.

He listed some of the administration’s priority projects to include shoreline protection and reclamation, improved healthcare delivery, educational support, potable water supply and the construction of concrete jetties.

He also assured residents of accountability and openness in governance, revealing plans to produce a formal constitution for the community within six months.
The chairman further pledged that the administration would adhere strictly to its single four-year tenure and ensure a peaceful transition at the expiration of its mandate.

While appreciating elders, women and youths for their support during the transition process, he urged all stakeholders to remain united in the interest of peace and development, stressing that “power is transient.”
Earlier, Secretary of the Elders Council, Engr. James Meneko Deribi, said the inauguration became necessary following the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past executive led by Mr. Prince Preye Okrikpa on April 28, 2026.
