Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, who are card-carrying members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, have resolved to vote President Bola Tinubu for president and frontline House of Representatives aspirant Kehinde Bamigbetan at the forthcoming APC primaries.
Bamigbetan, who met members of the NURTW, Branches B and D, Ejigbo/Isolo, under the leadership of Comrade Bashir Olowu and Nurudeen Oladejobi, promised a bus ownership scheme in partnership with the Consumer Credit Corporation established by President Tinubu.
He also pledged to revive grants for co-operatives scheme for wives of transport workers to run small businesses.
The interactive session commenced with an opening prayer, followed by remarks from Olowu.
He formally introduced Bamigbetan, highlighting the purpose of the visit and urging members to listen attentively to assess the aspirant, KOK’s as fondly called, vision.
Olowu, expressed strong confidence in Bamigbetan as “the people’s choice,” encouraging the union to consider aligning with him.
Bamigbetan expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and entire executive council for the opportunity to engage with the union.
He introduced himself as a dedicated political disciple of President Tinubu and a long-time resident of Ejigbo.
Recounting his deep roots in the community, Bamigbetan highlighted key interventions dating back to 2003 when he served as Deputy Chief Press Secretary to then-Governor Bola Tinubu.
He played a pivotal role in facilitating the reconstruction of the dilapidated Idimu Road and the effective channelling of erosion into the Ilufunmi canal. These projects, he noted, transformed the area and restored property values.
He paid tribute to Oba Morufu Ojoola, who nominated him for the Chairmanship of Ejigbo LCDA. As Chairman, Bamigbetan launched the impactful Vision “3×3” agenda, which delivered tangible dividends to residents.
Key initiatives include: The provision of free school uniforms, desks and benches, and nutritious meals for primary school children on Mondays, produced by local tailors, carpenters, and bakers.
His administration also built Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Primary School in Ageke, Oladele Alake Primary School and sponsored students for the Joint Matriculation Examinations, JAMB, and the General Certificate of Education.
His administration also ran a worker and artisan- friendly government which supported bricklayers and welders to build 182 culverts by Ejigbo bricklayers to boost the local economy.
In their responses, union members overwhelmingly endorsed Bamigbetan, with many affectionately referring to him as “Mr. Talk and Do.”
They testified to his integrity and past support for the union, particularly during his tenure as LCDA Chairman, when he empowered members through revenue collection roles.
The members pledged their total support, while offering constructive advice, urging him to address past electoral loopholes, strengthen grassroots mobilisation, and tackle security concerns at polling units, especially in Okota.
