Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has approved the appointment of Dr. Oluwarotimi George-Taylor as Special Assistant, in a move widely described as a reward for loyalty, competence, and grassroots commitment.
The appointment, according to a statement made available on Tuesday, takes effect from May 5, 2026.
George-Taylor, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, was said to have earned the confidence of the governor through years of active community engagement, youth mobilisation, leadership development, and unwavering dedication to public service.
Sources within the party described the appointment as “well-deserved,” noting that the new appointee has consistently demonstrated capacity, strategic leadership, and commitment to the growth of Abeokuta South and Ogun State in general.
A party stakeholder, who spoke on the development, said: “This appointment is not by chance. It is a recognition of hard work, loyalty, competence, and his visible impact at the grassroots. George-Taylor has remained committed to youth empowerment and community development over the years.”
Political observers also viewed the appointment as a significant step by the Abiodun administration towards deepening youth inclusion and strengthening grassroots governance.
Known among party faithful as a strong supporter of Governor Abiodun’s development agenda, George-Taylor is expected to bring fresh energy, strategic engagement, and wider community participation into governance.
Another APC leader in Abeokuta South described him as “a vibrant and forward-looking leader with the experience and network needed to complement the governor’s vision for a greater Ogun State.”
Before his latest appointment, George-Taylor served as Technical Aide to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Student Affairs, where he reportedly contributed to several youth-focused initiatives and national stakeholder engagements.
His experience in governance, public policy, youth development, business leadership, and political mobilisation has continued to position him as one of the emerging young voices in Ogun politics.
Following the announcement of his appointment, several political leaders, elders, party stakeholders, and associates visited and congratulated him, offering prayers and words of encouragement as he assumes office.
They maintained that his loyalty, leadership qualities, and commitment to service made him a suitable choice for the responsibility entrusted to him by Governor Abiodun.
Observers say the appointment marks another milestone in George-Taylor’s growing profile in public service and grassroots politics, as expectations rise over his contributions to governance and development in Ogun State.
