…Vows to review policies affecting residents

Ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Enugu State, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Sampson Chukwu Nnamani, has pledged to review and remove policies and practices that negatively affect the wellbeing, economic survival and social advancement of the people.
Nnamani made the known during a media briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre in Enugu.
Represented by his Media Director, Dr. Buchi Nnaji, the PDP candidate said government must exist to protect and improve the lives of the people, not impose hardship on them.
He assured that his administration would pursue humane and people-oriented policies aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across the state.
According to him, “We shall review and remove policies and practices that are truncating the wellbeing, economic survival and social advancement of the citizens. Government must exist to protect and improve the lives of the people, not to impose unnecessary hardship on them.”
Nnamani said his administration would focus on good governance, inclusive leadership, economic development, youth empowerment, quality education, improved healthcare and enhanced security.
He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the PDP and party supporters for electing him as the party’s governorship candidate during the primary election held on May 24, 2026.
“My aspiration is driven by the desire to build a greater Enugu State where opportunities abound for every citizen irrespective of political affiliation, religion or social status,” he stated.
He further promised to prioritise infrastructure development, job creation, industrialisation, support for small businesses and welfare programmes that would directly impact the lives of the people.
Nnamani also commended the media for its role in deepening democracy and promoting accountability, while calling on stakeholders, youths, women and traditional rulers to support his vision for a united and progressive Enugu State.
“Together, we can achieve the Enugu of our dreams,” he added.
Reacting to allegations that he was suspended from the party before the PDP governorship primary election, Nnamani dismissed the claim, questioning how a supposedly suspended aspirant could participate in the exercise and secure votes.
“The purported claim that I was suspended is very funny. If I was suspended as they claim, how can they attribute votes for me during their kangaroo primary,” Nnamani questioned.
