EFCC

An International Public Relations expert and media executive, Ogbuefi Nicholas Enubuzor, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to carry out due diligence to sanitise the political space in Delta ahead of the 2027 elections.
Enubuzor made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, noting that the intervention had become necessary as some politicians in the state remain under investigation by the anti-graft agency.
He expressed concern that past political leaders facing corruption allegations are still being allowed to seek public office while investigations by the EFCC continue without a clear resolution.
“There is a need for the EFCC to do due diligence in delivery on their mandate, because doing so will sanitise the political space and allow for credible governance and representation,” he said.
He described the development as a sign of impunity, insisting that only individuals cleared by a court of law should be allowed to contest elections, not those still under investigation.
“We stand with every Nigerian who believes that public funds are a sacred trust and that those who violate that trust must face justice, regardless of their political connections or party affiliations.
“We stand with every community that has borne the consequences of governance without accountability, and we say this loudly, clearly, and for the permanent record. Let the courts, and not political arrangements, party affiliations, or solidarity rallies, determine the truth.”
Enubuzor also criticised the trend of political defections by individuals under investigation, warning that such moves could undermine accountability and weaken public confidence in the system.
