ABUJA — A political shift is underway in Imo State, as grassroots mobiliser, Hon. Ben Odunzeh, is moving to dump the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to sources, Odunzeh has built a support base across the 12 local government areas in the state, and his exit from the party could affect the balance of power in the Orlu senatorial zone.

One source told Vanguard in Abuja on Saturday night that the politician is in advanced talks with key stakeholders, with an official announcement expected soon.

“Without much ado, Odunzeh, a close ally to Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, would pitch tent wherever the duo go to ahead of the 2027 elections,” a source familiar with the talks said.

Within Orlu, where Odunzeh is eyeing the senatorial seat, attention is focused on the implications of his possible exit, given his links across communities and local political structures.

If confirmed, the move could lead to further alignments within the zone as political actors reposition ahead of the next election cycle.
