The Ondo State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has fixed May 4, 2026, for its state congress to elect a new executive committee, with 150 delegates expected to participate.

The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Owolola Adebola, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the exercise aligns with directives from the national headquarters of the party.

Adebola said the congress will hold at Royal Birds Hotel and Towers, Alagbaka, Akure, by 12 noon, adding that all logistics and security arrangements have been concluded for a smooth exercise.

He explained that delegates will be drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state, following earlier ward and local government congresses conducted across Ondo’s three senatorial districts.

According to him, the congress is aimed at electing substantive state executives and strengthening internal structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The Ondo State Chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, in line with directives from the party’s national headquarters, has scheduled its State Congress for Monday, 4th May, 2026,” the statement read.

“A total of 150 delegates from 18 local government areas of the state are expected to attend the event.”

Adebola added that the party remains committed to internal democracy and transparency, stressing that congress guidelines will be strictly followed to ensure a credible and orderly process.

He also commended party members and stakeholders for their cooperation, which he said contributed to the peaceful conduct of earlier congresses at ward and local government levels.
