… features Dr Peterside ‘Leading in a Storm’

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has reaffirmed its commitment to capacity building in the oil and gas and other linkage sectors in line with the mandate of the Board.
The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by the General Manager, Corporate Communications, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, made the remark at the NCDMB Towers, Swali Yenagoa on Wednesday during the first quarter 2026 and fourth edition of the NCDMB Book Reading Programme, featuring the author of “Leading in the Storm”, Dr Peterside Dakuku.
Highlighting the significance of NCDMB sponsorship of the programme, he explained that the programe speaks to creativity and aligns with the Board’s mandate in different ways, particularly in the area of capability building.
He said: “I guess you may need to know that book reading promotes literacy and education and NCDMB is about building capacity, there is a nexus. For this programme we are featuring top leaders and authors and whereby we are, giving a platform to authors, intellectuals to discuss issues that bother on Nigeria and issues of development.
“This programe aligns with the NCDMB mandate in different ways, particularly our intentions to build capacity .Today we are discussing leadership and in leadership we can develop Nigerian content, achieve innovations, strengthen the oil and gas industry and of course our vision for reducing dependence on foreign expatriates for our oil and gas industry.”
Dr Ezeobi described the author of “Leading in a Storm,” Dr Dakuku Peterside, as a man who has traversed different sectors and made his mark including politics, industry and other genres, noting that book discusses practical lessons in leadership, and ideas that can be mainstream into career development and personal life.
Dr Peterside who read excerpts from the book, disclosed that the inspiration behind the book arose from four interrelated sources which includes every day realities in Nigeria, his experiences during his tenure at the national assembly as Chairman House Committee on Downstream, his time as Director General/CEO of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When I reflected on my own experiences living in Nigeria as a Nigerian, serving in the national assembly overseeing the supply chain of our oil and gas industry overseeing the maritime space watching leaders falter during the COVID-19.
“I thought that was the turning point that led me to commit to investigate how leaders can perform with limited information, scarce resources and institutions that are weak, ultimately that led to the production of this book “Leading in a Storm,” the author posited.
