The political landscape of the Warri Federal Constituency has been ignitted as High Chief Promise Lawuru, popularly known as “Ozigizaga,” officially picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms under the All Progressives Congress, APC, to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections.
This decisive move has sent a clear message across Delta State: Lawuru is not just a participant, but a primary challenger ready to battle for the soul of the constituency.
By picking up the nomination form, Lawuru has signaled his total readiness to take over the Green Chamber seat. For many constituents, this step is viewed as the “final warning” to the incumbent. Supporters argue that the constituency has grown weary of the status quo and is hungry for the “vibrant, accessible, and acceptable” leadership that the Ozigizaga brand represents.
“This is not just about a form; it is about a liberation movement,” stated a spokesperson for the Warri Federal Constituency Peoples Forum (WFCPF), which has been at the forefront of the pressure on Lawuru to run.
The act of purchasing the form confirms Lawuru’s resolve to dismantle what critics call a “docile representation” and replace it with proactive governance.
Lawuru is being hailed for his ability to transcend tribal lines, a crucial factor in the often-complex Warri political theatre. His long history of humanitarian work and grassroots mobilization has earned him a massive following, particularly among women and the younger generation.
The “Youth O’Clock” mantra is gaining traction, with many believing Lawuru is the right candidate to align the constituency with the developmental efforts of the federal government.
The battle lines are drawn, the forms are in hand, and the quest to unseat the incumbent has officially begun.
