BENIN CITY – FOR the first time in many years, all degree programmes offered by the University of Benin have been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
A statement on Sunday by the University’s Public relations Officer (PRO), Dr. (Mrs) Benedicta Ehanire said the feat followed the successful accreditation exercise conducted by the Commission in October/November last year across “Faculties, Schools and Centres in the University. The NUC recently released the result of the accreditation exercise in a letter dated 7th April, 2026, addressed to the Vice Chancellor.”
She quoted the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN as attributing the performance to the hard work and commitment of Management and Staff to academic distinction while promoting high educational ideals and values.
The Vice Chancellor applauded the University’s Senate, Faculties, Departments and relevant committees who worked assiduosly, with the objectives of ensuring due diligence and adherence to the requirements for full accreditation.
Professor Omoregie reiterated his fidelity to the strengthening of the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as outlined in his 5-point agenda.
The full accreditation status of the University is for five years till 2030.
