Tinubu’s aide Yusuf Kamorudeen bags OGITECH award for public service

Barely five months after receiving multiple awards, Alhaji Kamorudeen Olawale Yusuf, Personal Assistant on Special Duties to President Bola Tinubu, has received another award at the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa in recognition of his contributions to education and community development in Nigeria.

The award was presented on Wednesday at the institution’s 1st Annual Registry Workshop held at its Igbesa campus. The workshop was themed “Contemporary Higher Education Registry: The Imperatives of Reskilling and Upskilling.”

The award was received on Yusuf’s behalf by Abiola Bakare (Onimokan) and Rihanat Taiwo-Adegbola.

Speaking after receiving the award, Bakare said the recognition reflected Yusuf’s impact on the institution and its host communities.

“It was a proud moment to receive the award on his behalf. It defines the extent of his good deeds to the school itself, its students and the host communities. This is a massive recognition of Alhaji Kamordeen Yusuf’s selflessness and commitment to the well-being of the people and communities across Ogun State. I commend him strongly, given his well-documented passion for education, youth empowerment, and community development,” he said.

Bakare added that the honour would serve as motivation for Yusuf amid the demands of public office.

“It will also serve as encouragement amid his demanding role as Personal Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Duties. In public service and philanthropy, such honors often reaffirm that his behind-the-scenes efforts across Ogun State are noticed and appreciated by academic and intellectual communities, not just political or social circles,” he said.

While congratulating the President’s aide and his teams led by Prof Lateef Sulaimon, Bakare noted that the recognition should inspire greater commitment to service.

“Overall, receiving such recognition should mean a lot to him, not as personal glory, but as fuel to do even more. I congratulate him and his team, led by Prof. Lateef Sulaimon (ADLAT). It’s a nod to someone trying to make leadership mean something real on the ground,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the institution’s management described Yusuf as a “son of the soil,” noting that his rise to a key position in the Presidency serves as inspiration to students and staff.

It added that “his dedication to public service, community development, and the advancement of education aligns with the values the institution seeks to promote through its administrative and capacity-building initiatives.”

It would be recalled that in November 2025, the president’s personal assistant was recognized with multiple honours for his contributions to education and community development at events held in Lagos and Abuja.
