Tinubu should look beyond some governors to win south-east – Saidu

By Jimitota Onoyume

Arewa leader in the south Alhaji Musa Saidu has advised President Bola Tinubu not to depend entirely on governors of states in the south  east that have decamped to the All Progressives Congress,APC ,  to  secure victory for him  in their various states during next year’s presidential election.

Saidu said most of the governors are not on ground politically in their states, adding that  if they truly control the politics of their states they  could  have  ended the weekly sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra , IPOB in their states before governor Charles Soludo did in his Anambra state.” If they are really on ground they should have been able to end this sit- at-home order by IPOB every week before Soludo did”, he said.

Saidu advised the president not to be carried away by the boastful  media statements of most of the governors in the east.

According to him,  everyone can see that the Minister of the Federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike is more on ground politically in his state than some south east governors, adding that  Wike has more of the backing of political leaders in his Rivers state.

” The south east governors that  defected to the APC will not bring  massive votes for president Tinubu. I don’t want Tinubu to be misled . The  governors  are not on ground politically in their states. They can only talk big to the press.

“Some of them don’t have  very large supporters in their states. Mr President should look beyond them if he has to win south east states.  I understand the politics of the south east  very well. I  have been participating in political activities in the East and the entire South  since 1979.

“The Minister of FCT , Wike is more relevant politically to president Tinubu than some of them. Tinubu should not lose Wike because it will be politically disastrous.

“I am saying this because of the concern I have for Mr. President”, he said.
