A student group, The Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement, has commended the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola aka Yayi, as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.
In a statement by the Convener, Com. Bamgbose Tomiwa Peter, the group noted that Adeola has distinguished himself as a representative of Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
“His emergence marks a significant moment in the political history of Ogun State and reflects a broad recognition of his years of public service, legislative contributions, and commitment to development.
“Senator Yayi’s track record of educational advocacy, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development speaks volumes. From his sponsorship and successful passage of the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro bill to his consistent interventions across all local government areas in Ogun West, he has proven himself as a leader who understands the needs of the common man and the aspirations of the younger generation. His emergence is therefore a victory for competence and progress.
“We hereby call on all student leaders across the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Association of Southern Nigerian Students (ASONIS), National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), National Association of University Students (NAUS), and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) to come together for a single voice and collective achievement for the best of students in the Gateway State. This is a defining moment in our state’s history. The task of securing victory in the forthcoming election for the betterment of Ogun State is a collective one that demands our unity, energy, and voice.
‘The generality of Ogun State students believe that the future belongs to those who prepare for it today. Senator Yayi represents that prepared future. He embodies the hope of thousands of young people who seek a government that prioritizes education, entrepreneurship, technology, job creation, and inclusive governance. We urge every Students’ Union Government (SUG), faculty body, and departmental executive across our Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of education, and Monotechnics, including Ogun students in the diaspora, to mobilize and sensitize their members for this historic assignment.
“We equally use this medium to commend the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, for his statesmanship, fairness, and commitment to equity. By ensuring that the Ogun West ambition is satisfied and achieved after over four decades of waiting, Governor Abiodun has etched his name in gold as a true democrat and unifier. His role in ensuring the people’s choice is given the governorship ticket of the APC demonstrates leadership that transcends clannish or sectional interests.
“Governor Abiodun’s decision to support a process that produces a consensus candidate from Ogun West is a legacy decision that will foster peace, balance, and sustained development in our dear state. We salute his courage and thank him for standing on the side of justice and political inclusion. History will remember him kindly for healing decades-long political wound and giving every part of Ogun State a true sense of belonging.
“Finally, Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement declares total support for Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon and pledges to work tirelessly towards his victory at the polls. We call on all party loyalists, elders, traditional rulers, artisans, market women, and passionate Ogun indigenes to join hands with us. Let us put Ogun first. Let us choose progress over division. Together, we will deliver a new era of prosperity for the Gateway State come 2027.”
