SOKOTO — The Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, has commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for what he described as significant progress in human capital development and infrastructure across the state, saying the administration’s performance is strengthening public confidence in governance.
Bodinga said the governor’s development drive is anchored on a 9-Point Smart Agenda, which he described as a structured roadmap guiding reforms in security, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and community development.
He noted that the implementation of the agenda has already produced visible results across key sectors of the state economy.
On security, the Speaker said the procurement and deployment of 200 patrol vehicles have improved the response capacity of security agencies, enhancing peace and stability in both urban and rural communities.
He also highlighted agricultural interventions by the state government, describing them as central to improving food production, job creation, and economic growth. According to him, more residents are now engaging in farming due to increased government support.
In the health sector, Bodinga disclosed that the administration is renovating 244 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, while 17 General Hospitals are also undergoing rehabilitation to improve access to medical services at the grassroots.
He added that work is ongoing on key tertiary health institutions, including the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and the Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital, which are expected to strengthen healthcare delivery and medical training in the state.
The Speaker further praised government programmes targeting women and youth empowerment, noting that they are helping to expand access to skills development and economic opportunities.
He also commended the renovation of several Jumu’at and daily prayer mosques, describing it as part of efforts to support community and religious development.
Bodinga said the achievements recorded so far are a result of effective collaboration among the executive, legislature, and judiciary.
“The legislature is enjoying a very good working relationship with the executive and the judiciary, and this synergy is helping to accelerate development across the state,” he said.
He further disclosed that since the inception of the administration, the governor has not sought approval for any local or foreign loan, describing it as evidence of prudent financial management.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Bodinga expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would continue to enjoy broad public support, citing ongoing development projects and policy direction as key factors strengthening the party’s position.
