.Reels out legislative achievements, Projects and Empowerment Programmes in Oredo Federal Constituency
Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Esosa Iyawe, representing Oredo Federal Constituency, has declared his intention to seek a second term ticket on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress at the National Assembly.
He has also reeled out his legislative achievements, projects and empowerment programmes in his first tenure in the green chambers of the National Assembly.
Esosa Iyawe, an engineer, officially made public his aspiration at the weekend, at the APC Secretariat in Oredo, where he spoke to a large crowd of party faithful and staunch supporters, who were chanting his name as the best man to represent the great people of Oredo Federal Constituency.
Speaking passionately to the APC members, who gathered to witness the memorable declaration, Iyawe recalled that when he joined the APC that he said at that time that he was coming into the ruling party to boost it and not to reduce its rank and file. He also reeled out his achievement so far.
“I came to APC to grow it, not to reduce it. I moved about eleven motions since on the floor of the House of Representatives.
I moved a motion on the need to include the revitalization of Gele-Gele Seaport in Edo in the 2024 budget estimates. I also moved a motion urging the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to reveal all interests and principal sums on investments in the Excess Crude Account (ECA), Petroleum Profits (PTT), and Royalty Account to the Auditor-General for the Federation’s Office.
” I moved a motion on the alleged mismanagement of funds and irregularities in the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) operations. A Motion on the need to compel all uniformed government organizations to patronize the National Union of Textile, Garment, and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) was moved by me”,.
Continuing, Hon. Esosa Iyawe said, “I moved a Motion on the alleged non-remittance and under-remittance of tax by MDAs, oil companies, and other organizations. A Motion urging the Federal Government to convert forfeited and abandoned properties in Nigeria and abroad for office use to reduce high government expenditure on rents and leases was moved by my humble self
“I also moved a motion on the urgent call to suspend and investigate the proposed increase in subscription prices by Multichoice. I also moved a motion on the Urgent Need to Address the Outrage Resulting from Unguarded Comments by the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority towards Dangote Refinery.
“The ninth Motion I moved was on the urgent need to investigate and address deviations from Federal Government approved master plans of Federal Housing Estates for excessive profiteering”, said Hon. Iyawe.
Speaking further to party officials and supporters, who were impressed with the legislative achievements of Esosa Iyawe, the member representing Oredo Federal Constituency said he also championed a “Motion on the need for the utilization of renewable energy in MDAs of the Federal Government.
“I also moved a Motion on the need for valuation of public assets in Nigeria and ensuring accountability in their management while the 12th motion I moved was a Matter of Urgent Public Importance on the Need to Investigate the Establishment, Funding and Implementation of the Museum of West African Arts (MOWAA) In Benin City Edo State”.
Engr. Esosa Iyawe also listed the bills he sponsored on the floor of the House of Representatives, comprising National Public Asset Management Agency (Establishment) Bill, National Skills Development and Empowerment Bill,
Federal Universities of Technology Act (Amendment) Bill, Examination Malpractices Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill, 2025 – First Reading, and Nigerian Ports Authority Act (Amendment) Bill, Digital Health Services (Establishment) Bill.
Other bills sponsored by Iyawe include Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, Transparency and Accountability in Public Service (Establishment) Bill, Ride-Hailing and Smart Mobility Bill and Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act (Amendment) Bill.
Hon. Esosa Iyawe also highlighted the Projects and Empowerment Programmes he carried out for the people of Oredo Federal Constituency, comprising Food Bank Program – Free food palliatives for Over 4000 constituents for 10 months,
Donation of over 70 Mini buses to Oredo youths, Free Medical Outreach simultaneously in 3 locations , Free Eye surgery for over 50 constituents, Donation of 41 computers and solar power system to New Era School, Installation of Over 1000 street lights in Oredo, Donation of 100 Sewing Machines and Makeup Kits to Oredo constituents, Donation of medical equipments to New Benin Primary Healthcare Center and Annual Cultural Orientation and Quiz Competition for ALL public schools in Oredo.
Other projects carried out by Iyawe are Annual Free Jamb and WAEC Registration for over 1000 students in Oredo, Annual Full University scholarship for selected indigent students in Oredo, Annual palliative distribution to the Muslim community in Oredo, Annual HIFOT football tournament for ALL football clubs in Oredo, Renovation and construction of blocks of 6-classrooms and toilets in Odia College, Evbodia Community, Distribution of 50 Motorbikes to constituents, Renovation of several abattoir in Benin City and Disbursement of grants to over 1000 market women in Oredo.
Hon. Esosa Iyawe ended his moving speech by saying, “This is my report card, this is my scorecard and I believe this is not a case of not I will do, it is what I have done and what I will do again”.
