Lagos — A senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has encouraged members to uphold values of integrity and responsibility, noting that positive personal conduct can contribute to national development.
Olukayode Pitan, Pastor-in-Charge of RCCG Region 20, delivered the message during an Easter Sunday service held at the church’s national headquarters, Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos. The sermon, themed “Vessels of Light,” was presented on behalf of the General Overseer, Enoch Adejare Adeboye.
Drawing from biblical figures such as Joseph and Daniel, Pitan described a “vessel” as an individual dedicated to a higher purpose, while “light” symbolises values such as truth, discipline, and upright living.
In his remarks, the cleric stressed the importance of individuals demonstrating ethical behaviour in their respective fields, noting that societal progress can be influenced by consistent positive actions at different levels.
“You don’t have to hold public office to make an impact. Acting responsibly and doing what is right in our various roles can contribute to broader national development,” he said.
He also noted that maintaining such standards requires continuous commitment, adding that values and conduct should align with the principles individuals profess.
Special prayers were offered for professionals in the creative industry, including drama practitioners and filmmakers, as well as regulatory bodies.
Also speaking, the Regional Pastor in charge of Region 1, Dele Balogun, called on Nigerians, including public office holders, to reflect on lessons of sacrifice and accountability associated with Easter.
Addressing journalists after the monthly Thanksgiving service, he emphasised the role of selflessness and service in national development.
“Progress requires a willingness to contribute to the common good and support one another,” he said.
In his remarks, Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries International, encouraged Christian creatives to focus on value-driven content that positively impacts audiences.
He urged practitioners in the film and music space to prioritise messages that promote constructive values and social development.
The Easter service commemorated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a central event in the Christian faith.
