PTI tasks new intake on focus, character, technical competence

The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has formally welcomed its newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session, charging them to embrace discipline, academic excellence, and strong moral character as they begin their journey into the nation’s foremost oil and gas training institution.

Speaking during the matriculation ceremony, the Principal and Chief Executive of PTI, ably represented by the Director of Research and Development, Dr. Mrs. Tina Isichei, congratulated the fresh students on their successful admission into the prestigious institute. She emphasized that PTI remains committed to producing highly skilled manpower for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and urged the students to take full advantage of the institution’s world-class facilities and experienced faculty.

Dr. Isichei stressed that beyond academic brilliance, the institute places a premium on integrity, discipline, and technical competence, noting that these values are critical for success in the highly competitive and sensitive energy sector. She warned against all forms of misconduct, including examination malpractice, cultism, and other social vices, stating that the institute maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline.

She further encouraged the students to remain focused, diligent, and innovative throughout their academic pursuit, reminding them that the oil and gas industry demands not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills and professionalism. According to her, PTI graduates have continued to distinguish themselves globally due to the institute’s rigorous training standards.

Some of the newly admitted students who spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the ceremony, including Mr. Chidozie Samuel of the Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies Department, Mohamed Suleman of the same department, and Miss Eko Stephanie of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Processing Department, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to study at PTI. They pledged to prioritize their studies and uphold the values of the institute, assuring that they would strive to make the institution proud.

The matriculation ceremony, which attracted dignitaries, staff, and proud parents, marked the formal induction of the students into the academic community, setting the tone for a purposeful and disciplined pursuit of knowledge at PTI.
