Okigwe, Imo State — The newly installed Eze-Ogo of Ndi Okoroji, Mazi Ndubisi Ochiabutor, Iyierioba I of Aro-Okeigbo, has set out an ambitious development agenda aimed at restoring stability and driving growth in his community.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Vanguard, the traditional ruler outlined a vision focused on improving security, reviving economic activities, and addressing critical infrastructure gaps, particularly electricity supply.

His intervention comes against the backdrop of rising insecurity in parts of south-east Nigeria, where incidents linked to armed groups and criminal activities have disrupted livelihoods, weakened local economies, and discouraged investment.

Mazi Ochiabutor expressed concern over the slowdown in development, noting that recent insecurity has significantly undermined progress in the area. According to him, the prevailing situation has created fear among residents and traders, limiting both social and commercial activities.

He emphasised that restoring peace and safety would be his immediate priority, stressing that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of instability. Alongside security, the monarch also highlighted the urgent need to improve power supply, describing it as a key driver of small-scale businesses and local industry.
The royal father added that his administration would work closely with community stakeholders, government agencies, and security outfits to rebuild confidence, attract investment, and reposition Ndi Okoroji for sustainable growth.
