UYO—The Central Bank of Nigeria says its monetary policies, implemented in synergy with the Federal Government’s fiscal reforms, have achieved exchange rate and macro-economic stability and are building a more resilient economy.

Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, Ms. Emem Usoro, disclosed this yesterday while receiving an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree from Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden in Mkpat Enin LGA.

She noted that the CBN had developed systems and implemented policies that “brought the country back from economic disaster” and were now fostering inclusive growth for sustainable development.

According to her, the alignment of monetary policy with federal fiscal reforms has already boosted economic growth and restored macro-economic stability.

“In great synergy with the federal government, we have aligned our monetary policies with its fiscal reforms, which have already achieved exchange rate and macro-economic stability,
boosted economic growth and is fostering an inclusive economy for sustainable development.

“At the Central Bank of Nigeria, we are working hard to build a resilient economy that would support your dreams and make you part of a global economy that is full of immense opportunities,” she added

Usoro added that the institution has developed systems and implemented policies that brought the country back from economic disaster and are positioning the economy to better serve all segments of society.

Speaking in the degree conferred on her during the institution’s combined 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th convocation, Usoro described the recognition as “especially meaningful” because it came from her home state.

“To be so honored by one’s own people is profoundly touching and it affirms that sincere service and diligent work do not go unnoticed even when done quietly,” she said.

Addressing the graduands, Usoro urged them to combine their academic training with discipline, resilience and humility to succeed in a “complex, rapidly evolving technological world.”

“It is not only the discipline you are graduating from that would define your future. It will be your ability to dream big, your dedication, your eagerness to learn, your courage to break down the walls of barriers,” she said.

She charged female graduates not to be deterred by workplace and societal barriers. “Speak up for yourself! Be heard, be bold and be assertive but learn to do so with grace and humility,” she added.
