A civil society organisation in Osun State, Osun Democrats for Democracy (ODD), has expressed full confidence in the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Agboke, to conduct the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement on Wednesday, ODD’s Director of Operations and Public Affairs, Adeyefa Adeyemo, commended Dr. Agboke and the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their professionalism and efforts to maintain a peaceful and orderly electoral environment.

The group highlighted the REC’s proactive engagement, including early voter sensitisation and consistent communication with political stakeholders, as evidence of his preparedness and commitment to a credible election.

Adeyemo said, “The early sensitisation embarked upon by Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, is commendable and unprecedented in the history of elections in our state. He has maintained impartiality and shown respect to all political actors.”

ODD urged residents to participate actively in the forthcoming election, describing it as a civic duty, and expressed confidence that the conduct of the poll in Osun could serve as a model for other states.

The statement reaffirmed the organisation’s trust in Dr. Agboke’s integrity and the ability of INEC staff to conduct a free, fair, and transparent election on August 15.
