AKURE — Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, have arrested 164 suspects during a week-long statewide clearance operation and intercepted 144 persons allegedly concealed in a trailer.

The Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the operation covered multiple criminal activities, including suspected kidnapping, robbery, rape, human trafficking, and violations of the state’s anti-open grazing law.

He disclosed that among those arrested were individuals linked to armed robbery and kidnapping in Owo and Akure, as well as suspects connected to murder, arson, theft, and assault on security personnel.

According to him, 15 cases of human trafficking and one rape case were also recorded during the operation, alongside breaches of public order laws.

Adeleye further stated that stolen motorcycles, generators, and metal materials were recovered from the suspects during the raids.

He said the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Police, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services, noting that the joint effort had contributed to a reduction in criminal activities across the state.

The commander urged residents to continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing operations.

He also confirmed the interception of 144 individuals concealed inside a trailer, adding that they were discovered during a security stop.

According to him, many of them claimed to be new arrivals without clear means of livelihood, and are currently undergoing profiling before being returned to their states of origin.

On commercial motorcycle regulation, Adeleye said over 15,000 riders across the state have been registered under ongoing enforcement efforts.

He added that only certified operators would be allowed to operate, as part of measures to separate legitimate riders from criminal elements.
