The Lagos State House of Assembly has announced the removal of its Clerk, Olalekan Onafeko, bringing an end to his tenure which began on January 14, 2022.

The development was made known during plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, who explained that the decision followed the expiration of Onafeko’s tenure in office.

Obasa noted that the transition was in line with administrative procedures guiding the legislative service, stressing the need to sustain efficiency and continuity in the operations of the House.

Following the announcement, the Speaker named Adenike Osinowo as the new Clerk of the House, tasking her with upholding the integrity of the legislative process and ensuring effective coordination of parliamentary activities.

Osinowo’s appointment marks a significant administrative shift within the Assembly, as she assumes responsibility for overseeing legislative documentation, advising on parliamentary procedures, and managing the day-to-day running of the Assembly’s secretariat.

Meanwhile, the House also confirmed Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM), the body responsible for discipline within the legislative workforce.

In the same vein, lawmakers approved the appointment of Remi Bello as a member of the Commission.
The confirmations are expected to strengthen institutional governance within the Assembly, particularly in the areas of staff administration and legislative support services.
